Three sailors celebrate the sights and sounds of the Big Apple in the classic musical comedy, On the Town, which reopens Broadway's Lyric Theatre. On The Town is a fun-filled sweep through some of New York's most famous icons and an unforgettable tribute to this magical city. Misty Copeland join the cast to make her Broadway debut from August 25th to September 6th, but don't delay as that's the date this production will shut its doors on Broadway!
This revival marks the show's 70th Anniversary, and a return to the Great White Way after a 16-year absence. This production will feature an impressive 28-piece big band orchestra performing score's hits like "Lonely Town" and "Some Other Time" and "New York, New York." This production of On the Town was previously seen on-stage in mid-2013 in a production by Encores! and the Barrington Stage Company, which now transfers to Broadway.
What is On The Town about?
It's 1944 and three sailors, determined to make the most of their 24-hour shore leave, head out on the town in New York City to take in some of the scenery. As they explore the city, they fall in love not only with New York, but each with a woman they meet during their day off. From Coney Island to Times Square, we follow the six friends as they find love and adventure in the city that never sleeps.
