Jonah and Otto

Until February 25, 2017

In a first for British playwright Robert Holman, this play is his first to be staged in New York. A touching portrayal of crossed paths and haunting recollections, Holman's work was first performed in London in 2014 to rave reviews, noted for its stripped-back minimalist staging and engaging characters. For its US premiere, Sean Gormley and Rupert Simonian take over the respective roles of Otto and Jonah that were originated by Peter Egan and Alex Waldmann. Geraldine Hughes of UK television and film fame, directs this seminal work at the Lion Theatre this spring.

Louisiana Purchase

February 28-March 10, 2017

Part of Theatre Row's Musicals Tonight season, this little-performed 1940 musical by the pen of legendary Broadway composer Irving Berlin and ballet choreography by George Balanchine makes a long-awaited return to the stage in February. A satirical look at the life and politics of Louisiana Governor Huey Long, it includes classic standards such as Sex Marches On; You're Lonely and I'm Lonely; Latins Know How; Outside of That I Love You and Fools Fall in Love.

At This Performance...

March 5-April 2, 2017

With the stars of the big Broadway musicals all making their names on the stage, it is easy to forget about those who daily await that call to save the day in case of emergency; the standbys and the understudies. Equally talented and committed, these theatre folk are the forgotten heroes behind every performance, often stepping up to the plate at short notice. As part of Theatre Row's Musicals Tonight season, we welcome some of Broadway's current standbys to sing the biggest tunes from their respective shows - unless they're called to do their duty, of course!

Anything Goes

March 14-25, 2017

The popular Cole Porter musical gets another outing on the high seas, as part of Musical Tonight's season at Theatre Row. Written by Joseph Stein and Will Glickman, Porter's iconic standards "I Get a Kick Out of You"; "You'd Be So Easy to Love; You're the Top; "It's De-Lovely; "Let's Misbehave", "It's De-lovely", and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" raises the spirits and provides plenty of toe-tapping moments. The whimsical plot involves an ocean liner and star-crossed lovers, all coated in a generous amount of golden-era Hollywood sparkle.
