A LOT OF LAYERS
All My Sons is a great intro to the work of Arthur Miller who packs a lot of themes and emotions into the play. While he writes about capitalism etc. the play is stronger about the family roles. Father and son pride and disgrace, mother hood emotions and also loyalty. Very good show. I loved Marsha Mason who has amazing stage presence.

MUCH TO ADMIRE
I should preface this review by saying that I know and love this play very well. There are many "moments" in the show that are missed and rushed. The director and actors have chosen to sacrifice those moments in favor of pace. Case in point, when Ben Katz's Chris finds out that Joe was responsible for shipping out defective parts, the actor playing Chris doesn't seem shocked or surprised at all, immediately going to anger. Also, Reece Dos Santos' George, so indignant that Joe is a monster upon his entrance, is too easily convinced to stay for dinner. And the confrontation between Chris and Joe at the end of Act Two was way too muted and rushed for me. The strongest performances are given by the women in this show. Marsha Mason, looking and acting way younger than her age, imbues Kate with an equal mix of delusion, common sense and loving tenderness to create a rich character. Fiona Robberson makes clear Ann's pragmatism as well, as she is determined not to leave the Keller household without Chris. In all, Miller's writing still is the highlight of this production.
