3 Nights Only
One of popular music's great experimenter's, John Cale comes to BAM for a run of three special concerts, celebrating both his hugely influential solo career and his time in The Velvet Underground.
12/16-17: Program A
Released 50 years ago, The Velvet Underground and Nico melded John Cale's flair for the avant-garde with Lou Reed's poetic snapshots of America's seedy underbelly. Woefully underappreciated upon its initial release, the record is now held up as one of the genre's landmarks. John Cale is joined by members of the Wordless Music Orchestra to perform the record in its entirety.
12/18: Program B
John Cale delves back through his awe-inspiring career to perform some favorite cuts, from his time in the Velvet Underground, through the delicate chamber pop of Paris 1919, and onto the stark, drone minimalism and noise punk that would truly mark him out as a one-of-a-kind. The night also features the Wordless Music Orchestra and Chorus.
