Why See A Dog Story?

MusicalsOff Broadway Shows

Join the dog's life from this fall!

A brand-new musical dedicated to our favorite four-legged companions will bound into the Davenport stage this November, just in time for the holiday season! With music and lyrics by Gayla D. Morgan and a book written by Eric H. Weinberger, this comedy musical follows the fortunes of a high-flying lawyer who gets a puppy as a last-ditch attempt to attract the right woman. However, his new companion proves to be much more than a mere furry prop, leading to all kinds of comical mishaps! Starring David Perlman who reprises his lead role and Stefanie Brown, this is a love story to melt the stoniest of hearts.

What is it about?

Roland (Perlman) is a thirty-something ambitious lawyer, who is desperate to make partner at his prestigious law firm. Seeing that all the managing partners are married, he decides that a wife is the way to reach his goal. However, after a string of disastrous dates, his best friend Guy clues him in to what he thinks is a fool-proof plan; get a dog to attract the woman of his dreams.Having made his life-changing purchase, Roland sets about trying to attract women with his new puppy, Cupid.

However, the adorable bundle of fur is less interested in helping Roland score, and more about overturning his master's life completely! With a series of foiled first dates, a hilariously hardcore tango and a heart-stopping disappearance, Roland realizes that the true love of his life is in fact, just at the end of his leash! A co-production between Seaglass Theatrical, Waterfront Theatrics and Martha Robinson, A Dog Story is directed by Justin Baldridge and follows a successful run in 2014 in Key West, Florida.
