Why see Boy?
Uncovering the mystery of our perception of self
A highly relevant subject in news at the moment, gender identity is the driving force behind this new play by Anna Ziegler, based in part on a true story The consequences of a well-meaning doctor following a terrible accident to his infant patient come to light twenty years later, as the now-grown patient struggles to find his identity - and love - despite having been raised as a girl.
What is it about?
Covering a span of two decades, there is a fraught bond between the patient and his doctor, as the repercussions of his parents choice to raise him as female continue to unfold. Now a young adult, he must find his own identity, and the urgency is compounded when he falls in love for the first time. Here we learn if love is truly blind, and question's each of our beliefs about who we truly are.
