Stay-at-home-Mom Jo spent nine years on her fantasy novel. Now, when it's finally finished, she is summoned by shady 'publishers' Andre and Sven to their New York office to discuss her follow up, memoir. The only problem is, she doesn't know how to write reality, and besides, her life isn't exactly exciting, that's why she wrote about dragons in the first place...

People like to read about dark things

This paranoid thriller from Nick Jones (Orange is the New Black, The Coward) sees the timid Jo eventually accepting the offer to write her life story, a deal sweetened by the prospect of 50 grand, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. But things still don't add up. The publishers want excitement and darkness from her, and she's guessing they may not stop at any lengths to create chaos in her life. It is all about the Bestseller List after all...

Receiving it's world premier at the Lincoln Center Theater, Verite is due to be a tense and darkly comic look at the publishing industry, from a marvellously mischievous playwright.
