At a gas station and diner alongside a North Carolina Highway there are four Pump Boys: L.M. on the piano, Jim on rhythm guitar, Jackson on lead guitar and Eddie, who plays bass, and two Dinettes — Prudie and Rhetta Cupp.

The subjects they cover in song include love, fishing, drinking beer and the nearby shopping mall.
