A chance to hear new material from the beguiling singer-songwriter
The former 10,000 Maniacs singer has built up a strong back catalogue since going solo in the early nineties and her brand of acoustic-folk has earned her a few Top 100 Billboard albums. Her 1995 album Tigerlilly in particular remains a landmark record of the period.
Her forthcoming self-titled album promises to be as lushly orchestrated and lyrically dense as ever. Merchant has characterised it as being about "love gained and lost, regret, denial, surrender, greed, destructiveness, defeat, and occasional triumph." With an unmistakeable contralto voice that remains as intoxicating as ever, she'll be showcasing her new material in dates from this July to October.
