His final performance at Carnegie Hall
Iconic Spanish tenor and heartthrob Jose Carreras returns to Carnegie Hall this September, marking his first, long-awaited performance since 2003. A rare visitor to the States, Carreras is now marking his retirement from the opera scene, with this recital forming part of his Farewell Tour. Joining the legendary singer on stage will be soprano Margarita Griskova and gifted pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. Having performed in a plethora of operas at the Met including "Carmen," "Tosca" "La Boehme," "La Traviata,"Luisa Miller," Le Forza del Destino," and "Adriana Lecouvreur, this is a fitting way to bid farewell.
Together with Placido Domingo and the late Luciano Pavarotti, they formed the immortally popular Three Tenors, who first came to worldwide prominence for their stirring rendition of Nessun Dorma at the 1990 World Cup final; the subsequent album The Three Tenors In Concert remains to this day, the highest-selling classical album ever recorded!
