Why See Meteor Shower?

Broadway ShowsPlaysStrictly Limited RunsComedy TheatreStars on Stage

Written by Steve Martin, Starring Amy Schumer

After the success of his bluegrass musical Bright Star, comedian Steve Martin brings his latest show to the Broadway stage. Meteor Shower is an insightful comedy that delves into the anxieties bubbling under the surface of every marriage, infused with some of Martin's trademark surrealism. It debuted last year in San Diego, where it was extended due to popular demand.

What a cast!

It may have only four players, but Meteor Shower boasts one of the starriest casts of the season. Making her Broadway debut in the role of Corky is Emmy-winning comedian Amy Schumer. Best known for her stand-up and Comedy Central sketch show Inside Amy Schumer, this turn on the boards follows her recent transition to the big screen, with the movies Trainwreck and Snatched. She stars opposite Tony winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy) as Laura, who was last seen on the Great White Way in 2016's She Loves Me.

Rounding out the cast as Gerald and Norm respectively are Keegan-Michael Key, one half of Key and Peele, who recently proved his dramatic chops in The Public's Hamlet, and Jeremy Shamos (The Big Sick).

What is Meteor Shower About?

A dazzling meteor shower lights up the sky over Ojai, California, and married couple Norm and Corky invite their neighbors over to watch. By the end of the night they might wish that they hadn't. As the wine begins to flow and the evening takes one unexpected turn after another, it seems that the night-time display might just have affected both couples' sanity...
