Dividing the Estate

Played with true comic genius by Hallie Foote, the covetous, calculating Mary Jo has absolutely no sense of humor. But its hard to think of anyone on a Broadway stage right now (except possibly Mark Rylance in Boeing-Boeing) whos funnier.

Why see Dividing the Estate?
Dividing the Estate, a human comedy about a family that must confront its past as it prepares for its future, opened to critical acclaim last fall at Primary Stages. Dividing the Estate's accolades include winning the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play, and Horton Foote's 2008 Obie Award for Playwriting.
Stella Gordon has kept her hands on the family purse strings for years, but her grip is loosening as the purse is shrinking. The Gordons of Harrison, Texas, have enjoyed years of leisure, wealth and privilege, but things are about to change.
