For better or for worse, the Dave Matthews Band has been a blockbuster live act for so long it's helped industrialize the lucrative jam-band scene.
Los Angeles Times
Dave Matthews Band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in early 1991 when vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape. Instead of simply recording himself with a guitar, he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth.
What followed is an incredible musical career spanning over twenty years and counting, numerous prestigious awards and nominations including a Grammy Award win and fourteen nominations. They've sold a combined total of 38 million CDs and DVDs and to this date are rated as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade, having sold over 19 million tickets since starting out.
The band are currently working on their ninth studio record, so expect a couple of newer tracks to get an airing on this tour. They'll be surrounded by an absolutely bucket load of fan favourites, with the band promising lengthy, career-spanning setlists. The group is currently in the studio with producer Rob Cavallo, working on the follow up to Away From The World, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in 2012. Dave Matthews Band is the first group in history to have six consecutive studio albums debut at the top of the chart.
