The British superstars go electric in support of their new album
From their humble beginnings in the UK folk scene which also birthed Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons have become one of the biggest bands in the world. Led by singer Marcus Mumford, they specialise in big-hearted, anthemic indie folk, and were almost single handedly responsible for sparking off our current fascination with all things banjo-ey and upbeat (see also The Lumineers). The group's first album Sigh No More was released in 2009, and was an instant sensation of both sides of the Atlantic. Even bigger things were to come though, with sophomore effort babel becoming the biggest selling record of 2012 and taking home a Grammy for Best Album.
The boy's new album promises a something a little different though. Wilder Mind finds Marcus and Co. doing a Dylan and plugging in their guitars. 'Mumford & Sons go electric' is a pretty exciting prospect, and by the sounds of lead singles Believe and The Wolf, it's a transaition they've handled with ease. Hear the band's new sound for yourself when they hit Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, Ended 12 Feb 2013.
