Kinky Boots follows Charlie Price, who is forced to step in inherit his family's failing shoe factory in Northern England, following the sudden death of his father.
Help comes from the unlikeliest form, an exuberant drag performer named Lola. Together, this improbable duo not only revitalizes the nearly bankrupt business, but helps one another grow into the men their fathers always dreamed their sons would become and transforms an entire community through the power of acceptance.
Inspired by a true story and based on the 2005 British film of the same name, Kinky Boots features a warm and witty book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage, Torch Song Trilogy, Newsies) and a richly diverse musical score from Grammy Award-winning Cyndi Lauper, in her theatrical debut.
Kinky Boots has scooped up an astounding thirteen Tony Award nominations this year, including some of the most enviable awards - Best Musical, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, Best Costume Design of a Musical and TWO Best Leading Actor nominations for it's leading men, Stark Sands and Billy Porter.
