The Metropolitan Opera present Barlett Sher's lushly vivid production of Gounod's romantic opera. Adapted from Shakespeare's classic tale of star-crossed lovers, it will reunite Diana Damrau and Vittorio Grigolo, who displayed their sizzling chemistry in last year's Manon! The ever enduring Don Giovanni returns to the Metropolitan Opera. Mozart's libertine philanderer is cast in a decidedly darker light in this staging, whose story of unavenged justice incorporates tragedy and black comedy, as well as the supernatural elements which ultimately downfall. Giovanni is no misunderstood hero in this production, which was created by acclaimed British director and producer Michael Grandage. More info
