The New York Phil's 2017/18 season gets underway with a stirring double bill that features music by Mahler and Philip Glass. Conducted by the new Musical Director Designate Jaap van Zweden, after the departure of Alan Gilbert, his first concert also welcomes sibling pianist virtuosos Katia and Marielle Labeque, whose most famous work is their renowed album Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, which was one of the first classical albums to reach gold status. They will be putting their prodigious talents to work on Glass' Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. More info

Iconic Spanish tenor and heartthrob Jose Carreras returns to Carnegie Hall this September, marking his first, long-awaited performance since 2003. A rare visitor to the States, Carreras is now marking his retirement from the opera scene, with this recital forming part of his Farewell Tour. Joining the legendary singer on stage will be soprano Margarita Griskova and gifted pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. Having performed in a plethora of operas at the Met including "Carmen," "Tosca" "La Boehme," "La Traviata,"Luisa Miller," Le Forza del Destino," and "Adriana Lecouvreur, this is a fitting way to bid farewell. The New York Phil play John Williams' iconic score live to a screening of the movie. The follow-up to the hugely successful A New Hope, Empire Strikes back finds Luke and Co. doing battle against the all powerful Empire, and gave us one of the most famous reveals in movie history. More info

A Juno Award winner, he has also received accolades from Acoustic Guitar magazine, and is a three-time winner of the Canadian Smooth Jazz award for Guitarist of the Year.
