First premiering at the ABT Fall Gala in 2015, the legendary Frederick Aston classic ballet returns to the David H. Koch Theater this month, one year to the day! Danced to the ethereal strains of Eric Satie's score, Ashton's visually modernistic Monotones stunned audiences when it first premiered at London's Royal Opera House in 1965, marking a departure from that company's classical style. Dressed in white surrealist costumes, each part of Monotones is danced by a pas de trio in a delicate style, both mirroring the other's movements. More info

A world premiere performance, this new work by choreographer Jessica Lang finally makes its way to the David H. Koch Theatre as part of a packed mixed repertory program. A visual artist first and foremost, Lang's extraordinary career has seen her carry out commissions for the American Ballet Theatre, including this newest work of "visual music", drawing inspiration from the oft-overlooked sister of composer Felix Mendelssohn, Fanny, herself an accomplished composer and pianist who wrote over 460 pieces of music during her lifetime.
