ALL OF THE RAZZLE DAZZLE OF CLASSIC BROADWAY MUSICAL THEATRE

Based upon the cast and Susan Stroman I expected fantastic choreography, singing, and acting and was not disappointed... This was a thrill and a lot of fun to see! Zach Braff did an honorable job and the actor who played Cheech was top notch in addition to the lovely Ms Mazzie. A fun show to see!

FABULOUS REMINDER THAT THEATER CAN BE FUN!

We went during first week of previews. A few numbers were too long and the 1st act is much better than the 2nd. (Much of the 2nd act could be cut, and a potentially fun plotline with warring gangstas is dropped too early.) With those caveats in mind - loved the show. The costumes, the dancing, the sets - it's a lovely, glittery distraction. After editing, it should be a great show. ( and in a dream world, bobby canavale would play cheech.)

FUN SHOW - SUSAN STROHMAN IS STILL THE BEST AROUND.

The cast is wonderful. Kudos to Zach Braff for his debut portrayal of the idealistic playwrite. I saw two female understudies in the leads but they were also terrific. The performances are exceptional and the dancing top notch. The lead gangster practically steals the show as he did in the movie. The show reminded me a bit of the Drowsy Chaperone which I liked. My only complaint is that the dumb blonde bit was a bit cliched and you like to think of these kind of throwback shows as being intelliigent, witty and smart. The one vulgar/suggestive number with big hot dogs was beneath the wit of the show. It was ordinary and pretty stupid and if you looked around the audience...I think they were disappointed with it. Be smart, not juvenile in a period show like this. Other than that, it was fun and worth seeing for the times where the wit and intelligence of the show stood out.

SOMEBODY SHOOT ME PLEASE...

Woody Allen is out of touch with current theater goers' interests. Production was very "high school." And the jokes (if that's what you want to call them) fell flat. Only things missing were rim shots - ba dum bum! Also will never go to a show held in the St. James theater due to cramped and very uncomfortable seating...knees crammed into the seat in front and people too close on either side. It was a very poor experience overall. Really a total waste of time and money. Book of Morman is fabulous, and the theater is very comfortable.

DON'T JUDGE A PLAY BY THE PLAYWRITE

I saw the show this past Saturday night. it turned out to be a dismal disappointment. the plot was old school about a so-called talented playwright who ends up getting backed by a mafia boss, because of gaining favor with his girlfriend who wanted to be in his play.which in itself could have worked, but then spirals into a conspiracy with one of the hoodlems turning out to be the ghostwriter for the talented-no talent writer, the music & song were pitifully unamagnatiive throwing in the old song 'YES WE HAVE NO BANANAS" where it didn't belong.although one of the female leads had an exceptional voice, range & delivery. this was a poor example of woody allen's talent. no comparision to his 'BROADWAY DANNY ROSE' All in all I feel it was a BIG PIGEON DROPPING ON BROADWAY. P.S if woody allen wants to produce a winning play let him contact me at joeylachow0129@yahoo.com
