Mad Ones' Miles For Mary Off-Broadway Transfer
Hark back to an era of adolescent longings, big hair and shoulder pads this winter with Miles For Mary, the critically acclaimed comedy that made waves during its 2016 Bushwick run. Transferring to the Peter Jay Sharp Theater this Winter, the Playwright's Horizons-backed production will enjoy a strictly limited run from January 11th to February 4th 2018!
Much like genre-defining TV cult classic The Office, Miles For Mary brings the socially awkward hilarity of cringe comedy to the stage. Created by up and coming theater company Mad Ones and helmed by Off-Broadway darling Lila Neugebauer, the character and dialogue-driven laugh fest will have you in stitches with its faithful, nostalgic recreation of an all American High School in the 80s.
What is Miles For Mary About?
Taking place in the faculty room of a generic Ohio high school, the Mad Ones ensemble conjures six staff members and their seemingly unending quest to plan and hold a 24 hour fundraising telethon. Pretty soon, the disfunction that bubbles beneath the jargon, passive aggression and lack of productivity rises to the surface, culminating in a climax/argument that is absurd yet entirely believable.
