George Balanchine
Balanchine: The City Center Years celebrates the late balletmasters' immeasurable impact on the New York City Ballet and influence on modern ballet. The show sees eight leading ballet companies from all over the world perform in celebration of the iconic choreographer Balanchine.
It was in 1948 that Balanchine co-founded the New York City Ballet with Lincoln Kirstein and acted as the company's artistic director for over 35 years. This is the venue where Balanchine was able to work on his signature style that had an incredible impact on ballet and is widely regarded as shaping the modern dance style today.
The event is part of New York City Center's 75th Anniversary Season and will include unmissable performances from New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, and more.
