Sandra Okuboyejo will star as the aspiring ingenue in the new romantic comedy about dreaming big in 1990s Nigeria.

Set in 90s Nigeria, MCC Theater brings Jocelyn Bioh's comedy to the stage. Nollywood Dreams is set in the world of the Nigerian film industry which began to be labeled as 'Nollywood' as the industry gained popularity. The play follows Ayamma who works at her parent's business while having dreams of hitting the big screen. She lands an audition for a film led by a prominent director and has to prove her talent against a rival actress.
Speaking on the story, Jocelyn mentions how it is "a love letter to the African films of my youth and to an industry I'm crazy enough to love and work in: show business" and how she hopes "audiences will enjoy, learn from and connect with the universality of the story."
