Starring Hayley Mills
Academy Award winner Hayley Mills (The Parent Trap) returns to the Off-Broadway stage for only the second time, leading the cast of brand new comedy Party Face. Written by Irish playwright Isobel Mahon, and originally titled BOOM?, it centres on a testy mother daughter relationship, which comes to a head at a party in honor of the daughter's return home from hospital.
Leavening its biting social satire with an airy atmosphere and whip-smart dialogue, Party Face is the perfect vehicle for Mills, and a New York calling card for a very exciting writing talent. Amanda Bearse directs.
What is Party face About?
Forty-something Selma Mae is throwing a drinks party for her friends and family. It's their first get-together after Selma's suicide attempt, and subsequent hospital stay, and her mother, Carmel, is determined that everything goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately for Carmel, a combustible mixture of guests means things go very swiftly downhill, but by the end of the night, mother and daughter might just be brought closer than ever.
