Photograph 51 playwright Anna Ziegler brings her newest play to Manhattan Theatre Club this fall, for its world premiere. A co-production with Williamstown Theatre Festival and Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, this drama explores consent, gender and race politics, and the college experience through two co-eds. Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, this timely drama is Ziegler's ninth play, and follows her 2016 WhatsOnStage Award-winning drama Photograph 51, which starred Nicole Kidman in London's West End.
"Every single thing leads to everything else..." or is that the case in reality? Two freshmen co-eds at Princeton, Amber and Tom, are desperate to fit in with the social scene there, despite being both shy. Believing the way to popularity is through alcohol and sex, they naturally gravitate towards each other at a party - the aftermath of which meeting, has profound repercussions for both of them. Was their drunken encounter consensual? Who will be believed, according to their differing backgrounds? And is there a third set of facts for what happened that night?
