Why See The Acting Company: The Rose Tattoo?
Patty LuPone returns to Broadway for a cause
Two-time Tony Award-winner and reigning Broadway queen Patti LuPone joins forces with Emmy Award-winning actor Bobby Canavale for a special one night only stage-reading of Tennessee Williams' The Rose Tattoo. The seasoned stars of stage, film and TV come together to raise funds for The Acting Company, America's only non-profit classical theatre organisation.
Arguably one of Williams' seminal works, the play was awarded four Tony Awards when it debuted on Broadway in 1951. An exploration of personal tragedy, mourning and grief overcome, the story follows Serafina, an Italian-American widow who becomes a recluse in the wake of her husband's death. When she discovers her husband was not as faithful as she thought, she is slowly drawn from limbo with the prospect of new love in the from of the handsome truck driver Alvaro.
