Why See New York Philharmonic - Kavakos Plays Brahms?

old and new

Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos joins the New York Philharmonic for a special series of recitals of Brahms' demanding Violin Concerto. One of the cornerstones of technical difficulty, the concerto requires a performer with great skill and talent to translate the elements of bravura, folk rhythm and tranquil passages.

Also on the program for the evening is Esa - Pekka Salonen's beautiful and meditative Wing on Wing, marking a New York premiere for the piece and Aeriality by Icelandic composer Anna Throvaldsdottir.
