Damien Sneed Leads Commemoration of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
To honor 50 years since Dr Martin Luther King Jr. died, 'We Shall Overcome' will commemorate the life of the civil rights activist and his work in establishing human rights for the African American community. This fantastic musical celebration highlights the influence that Martin Luther King held and still has today.
Coinciding with the 35th Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which was made a federal holiday in 1983, the event looks to honor and give thanks to his legacy and work.
Led by award winning recording artist Damien Sneed, the concert fuses music from Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin and Duke Ellington with excerpts from Dr King's powerful 'Will Shall Overcome' speech.
