Why See The Prom?

You Will Go To The Prom!

The Prom transfers to Broadway after its 2016 World Premiere at Atlanta, Georgias Alliance Theatre! Tony-nominee Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs the musical comedy, with music by Matthew Skylar. The production features the book written by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin, Beguelin also penned the lyrics.

Uplifting and extremely amusing with show-stopping dance numbers, this musical is about acceptance and being the star you were born to be!

What is The Prom about?

In a small town in Indiana, prom has been cancelled! And it's not down to bad behaviour or financial issues - it's because the high school has forbidden, a female student, Emma from bringing her girlfriend! When a group of quirky broadway actors hear her story, filled with outrage they swiftly travel to the community in an attempt to correct the injustice.

However, their attempts at social activism don't go un-noticed and instead make the situation far worse then they could have ever imagine. The community erupts into chaos as cultures clash. Emma's future and the actors careers all hang in the balance.

Will prom go ahead? Will justice be made? There's only one way to find out...

Expertly acted, pleasingly sung, and often visually splendid, it makes a good faith attempt to honor the show's history and intentions while also acknowledging the charged sexual politics of the moment

Springsteen on Broadway is a fresh, powerful artistic achievement in its own right - a man who's a couple of years away from his 70th birthday confronting his past and putting it all into a new and unique context
