Why See Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra - A Journey of the Soul?

A MEMORABLE EVENING

Continuing his five-year tenure as the music director of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, Yannick Nezet Seguin leads a recital of two marvelous works from two great composers, with an exciting appearance from the legendary Radu Lupu who lends his extraordinary skills to Mozart's stirring Piano Concerto No. 24, K. 491.

Program

Leonard Bernstein - Symphony No. 1
Also known as 'Jeremiah', Bernstein's first symphony is a dramatic work based on the story of the prophet from the bible. Premiering in 1944 is is a fine work on a religious theme.

Robert Schumann - Symphony No. 2
Composed almost 100 years before the Bernstein piece, this metaphysical symphony is a real treat, uplifting and triumphant and ultimately very moving.
