SPECTACULAR SHOW!

My husband and I attended opening night of Guys & Dolls and loved it! The performance was outstanding and the set magnificent! We sat on row LL (towards the back) and had a great view of the show. (because we were so far away we couldn't make out actor's faces well but still had a great view.) The biggest downside to sitting in the back is that people got up and left quite a bit. I have to say that I would think twice before bringing children to the show. The scenes at "The Hotbox" includes sexy performances by women in lingerie. The performances of Glenn Rainey (Nicely Nicely Johnson) and Megan Sikora (Miss Adelaide) were particularly outstanding! Personally I would recast for the role of Sky Masterson, but that's just me! Over all I would highly recommend this show and don't forget to go down to the front of the theater before the show to see the beautiful starry night ceiling!

LOVED IT!

Saw the opening night of Guys and Dolls at Music Circus last night. Thought it was wonderful. When I lived in New York in the 90s, I saw Guys and Dolls 3 times when it was playing on Broadway with Nathan Lane, Peter Gallager, Faith Prince, and Adam Arkin. I enjoyed this production just as much. Because Music Circus is a theater in the round, there are few if any bad seats. Go. Enjoy. Don't miss this gem.

GOOD BUT UNDERWHELMING

Musically well performed by both the cast and the orchestra. The choreography performed by the RWB dancers was fantastic, especially the casino scene where Big Julie tries her luck. Even though lighting was used to set the mood and convey scenery, it could not replace what a set and decor could have accomplished. It was also unfortunate that the woman playing Adelaide was tasked to also play the role of the general using only a small jacket to change character. Finally, most of the cast had a rolling music stand throughout the production to read lines or remember song lyrics. It would be more deserving of a standing ovation if characters could dance and look at each other during songs and dialogue without having to consult a binder.
