INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE AT THE ORPHEUM IN BOSTON, WILD WILLING TOUR

To the people knocking Glenn for telling the audience to be quiet and listen... grow up? People paid good money to see him and I wish more bands chastised talkers. This show was incredible. Yes, very loud at times. I always bring earplugs. Volume was used as a dramatic accent to this performance with quiet sections that grew into great crescendos of sound and light with intense emotional outpouring from Glenn on stage. It was like being in a movie. I've never quite seen a show like it and it was worth every penny. I've been to two of his shows and they were both very different and incredible. Glenn was very careful not to be political during the show. Several times he stopped to explain a song and how it wasn't about anything going on currently and named no names. It's clear Glenn cares very much about the performance he gives and if you're the kind of person who likes his music and is considerate of others at such performances, you'll probably enjoy any of his shows.

OK...CONCERT'S TONIGHT SO...

... I haven't yet seen the show, but this will be my fifth time seeing Glen live. I feel the need to come to his defense, as if he is going to travel around the world to perform his music for people, they should give him the respect that he deserves while he's performing. It cannot be easy being on the road all the time, and he can be forgiven for getting frustrated when somebody treats the experience like they're riding public transportation and not watching a musical performance. If the concert-goer was loud enough to be disruptive, they had to be quite loud, as Glen's sets are not known for being quiet. Hopefully, the lesson learned is that it's only common courtesy not to speak during a show. Not to mention that Glen is the best performer you will ever have the privilege to see. Personally, I wouldn't want to miss a minute of his ingenius performance.

GLEN ROCKED THE STATE THEATER

4th time attending Glen’s show and never disappointed! Loved the new songs along with the old. Loved him at the State. Very intimate! Loved everything about this concert in particular for some reason. Only complaint is I’m too short! Always tend to get behind the woman with a big hat...this time it was a large blonde bun!! Think they should have booster seat options ;). Come back again soon, Glen. I’ll never not go!

EMOTIONAL, ENERGETIC MAGIC

Anyone who was fortunate enough to be at Glen Hansard’s show at the Granada in Dallas was witness to true concert magic. I’ve been a fan of Mr. Hansard’s music for a long time and was excited about going to the show. I was expecting a low-key mellow evening; but, instead, he put on a show that was truly over the top in emotion, energy, and musical talent. Mellow it was not. Even the slow ballads were full of energy and sincerity. It was a concert that makes you love the artist even more. I’ve been playing and listening to every Glen Hansard song I can get my hands on. I even looked to see if, perhaps, I could fly to the next venue to watch him again. Mind-blowing show!!!

FLEW IN FROM SEATTLE

I’ve seen Glen in Seattle 5x, Dublin once. First time with Swell Season. They obviously hadn’t had time to rehearse but it didn’t matter. I great show all around. Was a bit surprised all the jostling in the seats to go get drinks in the middle of concert. His interaction with audience was great as well.

GLEN HANSARD AT THE STATE THEATRE MINNEAPOLIS

Beautiful performance, he said it was their first stop in North America for this tour (I think). Almost thought this was his home town on this side of the pond. The audience was very receptive and Glen and company reciprocated. Really wonderful experience!

TOO LOUD

I have seen Glen Hansard three times now and the first two shows, one in the State Theater in Ann Arbor, MI and the second, at NYC's Carnegie Hall. Both nights were beyond incredible and are firmly etched in my mind forever as perhaps the most glorious and exciting musical experiences of my life. I was thus disappointed with Glen's concert this past weekend at the Beacon Theater in NYC because his band was so painfully loud that my ears actually hurt; hearing him sing under those conditions was nigh impossible, let alone understanding his words. He also used technology at times for changing how his voice sounded and the effect was not for the better. I must say, though, when his band was at high volume watching him hop and gyrate around on stage with the energy of a tornado was an incredible sight to behold. I hope he was wearing protective ear plugs! When Glen sang by himself or with soft vocal and/or musical accompaniments I was very happy. His guest performers were all terrific and very special too. Now I know how Bob Dylan's original folkie fans felt when he went electric! I applaud Glen for branching out and trying new ways of expressing himself through song and music. An artist must always keep exploring and experimenting if he/she is to remain vibrant, exuberant and fresh. I must say the crowd at the Beacon went crazy bananas over everything he and his band performed that night. I myself am a senior citizen who does not find pleasure, value or meaning in hearing music so loud that all I can notice is that my ears are hurting and my brain functioning has become paralyzed by the blast of noise and intense vibrations. I myself will thus have to think twice about getting a ticket the next time Glen comes to town.
