The Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series celebrates the genius of the composers behind the stage, tracking the evolution of the musical theatre repertoire from the golden era of Tin Pan Alley to the contemporary genre-bending of today's writers. In this special one-night-only show, the music of creative team Scott Frankel and Michael Korie is firmly under the spotlight with Tony-winning Broadway royalty Kelli O'Hara and Downton Abbey star Julian Ovenden on vocal duties.
Composer Frankel and lyricist Korie are the dynamic songwriting duo behind modern Broadway classics War Paint, starring Patti Lupone, and Grey Gardens, both of which garnered critical acclaim for their artistic integrity and score. Having starred in their 2013 musical drama Far From Heaven, O'Hara is no stranger to their work, making her the perfect interpreter for their melodically lush and expertly crafted songs.
