Barry Jenkins' follow-up to Moonlight
After his Oscar-winning success with Moonlight, all eyes were on director Barry Jenkins to see if he could produce a worthy follow-up. With If Beale Street Could Talk he's done just that.
Adapted from the novel by James Baldwin, this intimate love story is set in 1970s Harlem, and follows a romance that is confounded at every turn by institutional racism. Already screened to rapturous reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, Beale Street confirms Jenkins as one his generation's most talented filmmakers. The cast is led by Stephen James and Kiki Layne, and also features Regina King, Bryan Tyree Henry and Diego Luna.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Barry Jenkins.
