Executive producer David Rambo and producer Christopher Massimine will present Jay Sefton's award-winning play, The Most Mediocre Story Never Told!, as part of the 13th annual New York International Fringe Festival August 14-30. The five performances will held at the newly renovated Actors' Playhouse (100 7th Ave between Grove and Bleecker).
Originally presented at The Lounge Theatre in Los Angeles in September of 2008, The Most Mediocre Story Never Told! was welcomed to both critical and audience acclaim extending the show's run twice. LA Weekly awarded the show with "The Best Solo Performance of 2008" calling it a "A charm-filled meta-literary excursion, under Debra Deliso's nimble direction, something like a magic-carpet ride." LA Weekly also says "Jay Sefton takes every aspect of the autobiographical one-man show and dismantles it before our eyes." Debra Deliso continues as director for the east coast premiere.
In this deconstruction of the traditional one-person show, playwright and performer Jay Sefton dismantles his story exploring the nature of memory, its unreliability, and the obstacles it presents toward living in the present. His journey to move beyond his past finds him in Philadelphia ‘on a cross in a diaper', in Lexington, Kentucky for the 1985 Men's NCAA final four, in a bar at the Jersey Shore and locking horns with a Stones-loving foul mouth Philadelphian hell bent on taking control.
