Why See A Man For All Seasons?
The Legendary Tony-winning play
Back on the New York stage for the first time since 2008, the Tony-winning A Man for All Seasons is a subtle and engrossing historical drama that takes you inside the court of Henry VIII. The story centers on the battle of wills between the king and his chancellor Sir Thomas Moore, who raises objections to Henry's plans to leave the Catholic church. Exploring themes of power and religion, it's ultimately a moving portrait of one man who refuses to waver in his convictions.
Written by Robert Bolt, A Man for All Seasons debuted on Broadway in 1961, and was awarded the Tony for Best Play. It was subsequently adapted for the silver screen, with Paul Scofield in the lead role. This Acorn Theatre production is directed by Christa Scott-Reed.
