Why see New York Philharmonic?
The Philharmonic season will open with a gala evening featuring soprano Deborah Voigt. The concert will be broadcast as part of the "Live from Lincoln Center" series, and will include works by Barber, Wagner and Strauss.
The regular season will begin and end with Mr. Gilbert conducting works for chorus and orchestra. Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" starts things off Sept. 22, 24 and 27. Then on June 20-23, 2012, the season will close with Mozart's Mass in C minor "Great." Symphonies by Brahams, Dvorak, Nielsen, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky will be performed throughout the season.
