Great night out for: A group of friends looking to kick off a festive night out in New York City should certainly make this the start line. It's a fun way to flash through the ages of alcohol, progression and merriment.

Best bit: Hearing that there is a Rum version of the show! "Alive After Five Cruises" is available on the Horn blower boat traveling along the Hudson River, the cruise offers free Rum cocktails AND epic views of the Manhattan and New Jersey skylines along with; the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Freedom Tower, and more. It truly is the greatest way to see the city all within 2 hours.

Who would enjoy this show: This show is full of fun and facts covering ten thousand years of history, with free cocktails - my guess is anyone over 21, will enjoy this show! (Note: The legal drinking age in America)

Morning after effect: Flabbergasted by liquor's contribution throughout the ages, and very pleased to hear it was responsible for the extension of life.

Verdict: We give it a four out of five stars

When we look back at the history of man there are many things to be ashamed of and a lot that leaves us perplexed and in wonderment; however one thing which has remained a constant is the enjoyment of indulging in a drink or two with fellowman to unwind from the stress of life and enjoy a bit of song and dance. The Imbible is a fantastic Off Broadway show which fast tracks through the ages of man, namely ten thousand years of; exploration, discovery and survival.

Anthony Caporale leads the way playing several characters and sharing a plethora of knowledge associated to the discovery of alcohol and how its breakthrough ultimately changed the lives of man for good. From medicinal contribution, recreational enjoyment, to the craftsmanship of cocktail development, the stories are alive and reinforced by a fantastic trio of songsters, and corny props. It is after all a boozy extravaganza set in the underground bar of the Soho Playhouse.

The 1920s saw the Soho Playhouse come to life as a theatre hosting great playwrights original work such as; Sam Shepard, AR Gurney, Terrance Mcnally, Leroi Jones and John Guare while the intimate Huron Club downstairs was the meeting point and night club for the Democratic Party. As you walk downstairs the history breathes through her walls and it is the perfect speakeasy setting for The Imbible.

Caporale's performance is the most dynamic history class you will take, be sure to pay attention as audience participate is encouraged, especially as you get in spirit. As you sip on the craft cocktails created by Caporale your endearment for him continues to grow and you soon appreciate that he is not 'just' a bartender with 30 years behind the counter but a pioneer in the advancement of international modern cocktail culture. He holds an incredible amount of respect for the age old skill which was originally fashioned to overshadow the bad taste of liquor, by the end of the show you will be sure to tip your next bartender if he/she holds half the enthusiasm of this man.

As the trend increases to search the streets for the classic pre prohibition experience, The Imbible's timing is impeccable, as are its drinks, cheers to that!
