Laura Linney shines in My Name Is Lucy Barton

Laura Linney garners praise from critics in My Name Is Lucy Barton, which transferred from London's West End to Broadway.

Laura Linney has once again garnered praise from critics as she reprises her solo role in My Name Is Lucy Barton. The production, directed by Richard Eyre,  transferred from London's West End to Broadway where it opened January 15th. The play is an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout's bestselling novel about a women who is reunited with her estranged mother after waking from an operation.

Linney's portrayal was called "luminous" by the New York Times, and "extraordinary" by the Hollywood Reporter. The praise she's received is testament to her talents - holding an audience captive for 90 minutes in a solo play is no easy feat! It seems that Linney does this, and more, with Deadline stating that she "pours the breath of life" into the production. The response from critics for this Broadway transfer certainly matches the acclaim it generated when it ran at the off-West End venue The Bridge Theatre in 2019.
