Katharine McPhee Will Be Waitress' Final Jenna

The musical closes on January 5

American Idol and SMASH star Katharine McPhee will return to the diner this November as she dons Jenna's apron once again. After wowing Waitress audiences in 2018 McPhee will be the production's final Jenna, before closing on January 5.

After making her Broadway debut in Waitress, McPhee went onto open the production in London's West End where she was praised by critics and audiences alike.

McPhee will be joining a cast made up of Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Natasha Yvette Williams as Becky, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, Ben Thompson as EarlChristopher Fitzgerald as Ogie.

Opening in 2016 Waitress features a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro.

What is Waitress about?

Suffocated by both the small Southern town where she lives, and her controlling husband Earl, Jenna longs for escape. Her only solace comes from working in the local diner, where she can practice her passion for baking. Jenna's crumbly pastries and crinkly crusts are renowned the town over, and by a stroke of luck, they might just offer her an escape route! A pie-making contest is announced in a nearby town, with a potentially life-changing cash prize for first place. Jenna realizes this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and is determined to grab it with both hands!

Waitress is now playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theater through to January 5, 2020.
