The Band's Visit was the big winner at last nights Tony Awards ceremony, taking home ten awards out of their eleven nominations. The musical's biggest wins include Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical for David Cromer.
The two leading stars of the show also took home the award in their categories with Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Tony Shalhoub and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Katrina Lenk.
Ari'el Stachel also took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.
The production also took home the awards for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical and Best Orchestrations.
