Introducing the precocious and seductive Harry Clarke!Buy Tickets
The first production of the 2017/18 season at Vineyard Theatre, Harry Clarke is a World Premiere Play written by the skillful and talented David Cale and directed by the Tony nominee Leigh Silverman. Silverman was nominated for the 2014 Tony Award for Best Direction of the musical Violet and the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of the play From Up Here. Leading the cast is Tony winner Billy Crudup (The Coast of Utopia, Almost Famous).
Harry Clarke is a one-man black comedy about a midwestern man leading a double life, namely taking on the persona of a cocky Londoner named Harry Clarke. He moves to New York and, presenting himself as an Englishman, manages to woo his way into a wealthy family, romancing two of the family members. However Harry's behaviour grows increasingly risky and dangerous which threatens to undo more than just his fraudulent persona!
David Cale wrote the book, lyrics, co-composed the music and played Floyd in the musical Floyd and Clea under the Western Sky. He has also performed in plays on and also Off-Broadway - his most recent being Stew and Heidi Rodewald's, The Total Bent at the Public Theatre. Talk about multi-talented!
