Hailing from the North of England, Boe was doing an apprenticeship as a mechanic when he took the brave move of leaving his job and pursuing his dream of being a professional singer. Offered one of the leads in Baz Luhrmann's controversial Broadway production of La Boheme, he took a leap of faith with Luhrmann and was rewarded with a Tony Award for his performance. Since then, Boe has become a best-selling artist and highly acclaimed performer.
In 2010 Boe took on the role of Jean Valjean in a concert performance of the musical Les Mis?rables at the O2 Arena in London to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show.
