From the Director of Hamilton
Set in the high-stakes world of investment banking, Dry Powder is a sharp new work about the people who both prop up, and mercilessly exploit, the US economy. In his stage debut, John Krasinkski (The Office, Aloha) plays Seth, a managing director who must race to save his company in the aftermath of a huge PR disaster. He stars opposite Emmy and Golden Globe winner Claire Danes (Homeland, Pygmalion) and five-time Emmy winner Hank Azaria, who's best known for voicing a multitude of characters on The Simpsons.
This world premiere is written by Sarah Burgess and helmed by Thomas Kail, the Tony-nominated director behind the Public Theater and Broadway phenomenon Hamilton.
What is Dry Powder About?
Throwing a lavish engagement party the same week your private equity firm lays off hundreds of workers probably isn't the smartest idea. With the media witch-hunt in full swing, managing director Seth (Krasinski) must find a way to make up for his massive PR blunder. Fortunately, his colleague Rick (Azaria) has an apparent win-win investment opportunity that might just save his (and the company's) skin. His counterpart Jenny (Danes) has other ideas though; she's quite willing to watch the company crumble, just as long as she can make some money in the process.
