WISHFUL DRINKING's Carrie Fisher Gives 'Q&A' to The New York Post

Wishful Drinking at Broadway's Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street) celebrated its official opening last night, Sunday, October 4th, 2009.

Carrie Fisher checked in with The New York Post for a fun little Q & A.

In this excerpt the actress discusses bringing her story to the stage:

How comfortable are you standing onstage every night discussing the darkest periods of your life?

All these things I'm talking about made their way into the media without my assistance. When they found out I was in rehab, that was in the media. When they found out I was in a mental hospital, that was not only in the media, but it was under the heading, "Carrie Fisher's tragic life." If it's gonna be out there already, then I want my version. I'm not satisfied that they're gonna interpret my experiences and not make up things about me.

Wishful Drinking is created and performed by Carrie Fisher and directed by Tony Taccone at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th St).

In Wishful DrinkingCarrie Fisher recounts the true and intoxicating tale of her life as a Hollywood legend, told with the same wry wit she poured into bestsellers like Postcards from The Edge.

The daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie ReynoldsCarrie Fisherbecame a cultural icon when she starred as "Princess Leia" in the first Star Wars trilogy at 19 years old. Forever changed, Carrie's life did not stay picture perfect. Fisher is the life of the party in this uproarious and sobering look at her Hollywood hangover.
