"Robert Falls' colossal, unabashedly sexual revival…a huge powerful Desire Under the Elms"
Chicago Tribune
Sex. Heat. Passion.
Direct from Chicago's prestigious Goodman Theatre comes a work of monumental passion and epic sensuality. An intense erotic journey. An experience you will not soon forget…
This spring, Desire Under the Elms reunites Brian Dennehy with director Robert Falls, who previously collaborated together on the revolutionary and critically acclaimed revivals of Death of a Salesman and Long Day’s Journey Into Night. "Led by an ideal Brian Dennehy" who "couldn't be more convincing as Ephraim Cabot...silver-haired and powerful, both physically and emotionally, Dennehy digs into every facet of this character…the performance [is] packed with integrity." (Variety)
Joining Dennehy is stage and screen star Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Sin City, "Entourage", After the Fall), who "displays a depth and range of expression that I cannot imagine any other actress achieving with such blazing honesty and wrenching truth. She is simply magnificent." (The New York Times)
Rounding out the cast is Tony-nominee Pablo Schreiber (Awake and Sing, Dying City, Vicky Cristina Barcelona), who "turns in a beautifully calibrated performance" (Chicago Sun-Times) that "transcends by some measure even the excellent work [he has] done in New York." (The New York Times)
