will star as King Arthur, headlining the national tour of Monty Python's Spamalot at the Kravis
Center March 11 - 16 presented by
Stanford Broadway Across America - Palm
Beach and Florida Theatrical Association.
Lovingly "rippedoff" from the internationally
famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot is the winner of three 2005 Tony Awards
including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols), as well as the Drama
Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical. The
original cast recording
of Monty Python's Spamalot
recently won the
2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of
the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot features a chorus line of dancing divas and
knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and one legless knight. Directed by
Mike Nichols, Monty Python's Spamalot features a
book by Eric
Idle, based on the
screenplay of Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Monty Python creators Graham
Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin,
with music and lyrics by the Grammy Awardwinning team of Mr. Idle and John Du
Prez. Casey Nicholaw is the
choreographer.
Along side Gary Beach as King Arthur, the national tour of Monty Python's Spamalot will star Esther Stilwell as The Lady of The Lake,
James Beaman as Sir Robin, Christopher Sutton as Prince Herbert, Ben Davis
as Sir Dennis Galahad, Brad Bradley as Patsy, Christopher Gurr as Sir Bedevere
and Patrick Heusinger as Sir Lancelot. The
cast will also feature Matt Allen, Piper Lindsay Arpan, Julie Barnes, Graham
Bowen, Jonathan Brody, Nigel
Columbus, Timothy Connell,
Cara Cooper, Erik
Hayden, Jennifer Mathie,
Angelina Mullins, Brian O'Brien, Lyn Philistine, TeraLee Pollin,
Jennifer Rias, Darryl Semira and Paula Wise.
Gary Beach has had a long and varied career on the Broadway
stage, as well as film and television. Beach received the 2001 Tony Award as
well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for his performance as Roger DeBris in Mel Brook's smash The Producers. He also recreated this award winning performance in the 2005 film version of that hit. He
was nominated for the 2005 Tony Award for Best Actor in a
Musical for his
"touching and hilarious"
performance as Albin
in the revival
of La Cage aux Folles. He
created the role of Lumiere on Broadway in Disney's Beauty and the Beast winning both Tony and Ovation award
nominations.
