12 Time Tony-Winning Musical
Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's classic musical comes to the Paper Mill Playhouse in an all new production. A hilarious musical in the worst possible taste, the show stormed Broadway in 2001, with a cast featuring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and picked up a record-breaking twelve Tony Awards.
Adapted by Brooks from his own 1968 movie, The Producers tells the unlikely story of down on his luck Broadway kingpin Max Bialystock and his accountant Leo Bloom, who come up with an ingenious plan to make a killing on the Great White Way. They'll purposely produce the worst musical the world has ever seen, and when it inevitably flops, they'll be able to keep all the investors' money that's left over. The musical they settle on is Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden, a work composed former Nazi Franz Liebkind. Sure of their plan's success, Max and Leo are horrified when their flop becomes a hit!
