Great night out for This is a great show for families travelling to New York as it caters for all ages. New York tourists can certainly relate to the pandemonium of squeezing all the sights and offerings of the city into a short visit. The simplicity of the story allows you to sit back, relax and be dazzled by the show.

Best bit: Alyssa Umpress (Hildy) is spectacular throughout the show and captivates the audience during her solo performance "I Can Cook Too" keeping you hungry for more of her singing!

Who would enjoy this show Those who appreciate dance (especially ballet), music by Bernstein and true musicals.

Morning after effect: Pure excitement to create a list of all the places to see in New York, from Battery Park to the Bronx Zoo.

Verdict We give it a four out of five stars

On The Town tells the story of three sailors; Gabey, Chip and Ozzie; who arrive in New York City with just 24 hours of shore leave to enjoy. With over twenty thousand streets and many iconic sights to see they don't know where to begin! Gabey (played by Tony Nominee, Tony Yazbec) discovers a picture of a beautiful girl (Ivy Smith, played by Megan Fairchild), which sends the three men on an adventurous search for love.

Set in the 1940s this charming musical will take you on a whirlwind tour of New York City highlighting the American Museum of Natural History and Times Square to name a few. The digital imagery brings this show into a modern light while holding onto its original glamour.

Megan Fairchild is breathtaking in the challenging role of Ivy Smith, brilliantly choreographed by the well know Joshua Bergasse. Fairchild will stand down for 12 performances, from August 25th to September 6th, as the show welcomes Misty Copeland, following historic news announcing her as the first African American women to be made Principal Dancer of the American Ballet Theatre. Copeland will no doubt be sensational in this roll making On The Town - a must see this fall! Fairchild will then resume her role as Ivy Smith swirling and twirling across the glorious stage of The Lyric Theater.

Leonard Bernstein is one of America's greatest composers and conductors of all time and his original score for this show is an absolute joy to the ear played by Broadway's largest 28-piece orchestra, seamlessly lead by Musical director and conductor James Moore. The Lyric Theatre is one of the newest theatres to Broadway and the acoustics are outstanding, the seats comfortable and it's in the heart of Times Square. One could say, it's a Helluva show!
