Why See Living on Love?

An Extraordinary Broadway Debut

After a critically acclaimed summer debut at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Tony Award winner Jo DiPietro's Living On Love is set to shine on Broadway at NY's Longacre Theatre. The original cast members are to reprise their roles in the smash hit comedy about the tumultuous relationship between a celebrated opera diva and her maestro husband. Life imitates art as four-time Grammy Award-winning Opera star Renee Fleming returns to the lead role alongside the Emmy nominated TV and film actress Anna Chlumsky and Tony nominee Douglas Stills.

Director Kathleen Marshall has previously collaborated with writer Pietro on their long-running broadway musical triumph Nice Work If You Can Get It. An adaptation of American writer and director Garson Kanin's farce, Peccadillo, the story is set in the glamorous silver screen era of the 1950's, reflected in the sumptuous fabrics and furs draped around la diva and the elegant Manhattan Penthouse in which the light-hearted drama unfolds.

What is Living On Love About?

Universally-adored Opera Diva Raquel DeAngelis (Fleming), she of demanding and fiery temperament, is evenly matched by her husband Vito DeAngelis' own egomania and penchant for seducing younger conquests. A battle of wills ensues when Vito hires the pretty, youthful Iris Peabody to ghost-write his memoirs. Not to be outdone, Raquel hires a writer of her own, the boyish Robert. War is declared and each couple must race to finish their autobiographies, a task made all the more difficult when Raquel only lies about her past and Vito won't open up about his. Jealousy abounds as a love quadrangle emerges...
