A beautiful face masks suffering and loneliness, co-dependency and addiction, a heart of gold and a free spirit...
Private Dancer is described as a cinema-inspired performance work. It uses a variety of media and art forms to tell not only the story of Rita Hayworth - one of Hollywood's original leading ladies - but also the story of life in the public eye and of our human need for privacy.
Focussing on her personal and professional life, the play has one solo actor and dancer - Sage Snakechalmer - whose performance helps uncover the highs and lows of Ms Hayworth's life, all the while also depicting life in Hollywood's 1950s studio system.
